Welcome to MQUIC 2017 – the 7th International Conference on Quality in Chains under the auspices of the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS). This conference is organised by the South African Research Chair in Postharvest Technology (SARChI Postharvest Technology), Department of Horticultural Science, Stellenbosch University (www.sun.ac.za), in partnership with the 3rd International Conference on Postharvest Technology and Quality Management.

The aim of MQUIC 2017 is to provide a global platform for stakeholders in the fresh produce industry – researchers, academics, postharvest operators, exporters/importers, policy makers and non-governmental agencies to engage with one another in sharing the latest innovations for managing the quality and safety of commodities along the value chain. The conference will also identify and discuss cross cutting challenges and opportunities affecting the production, handling, processing, value addition and marketing of fresh horticultural commodities and the impacts on food and nutrition security.
